Experience the
Joy of Singing -- in the Choir!
If you love to sing,
treat yourself
to the joy of choir ministry. Imagine
yourself singing beautiful music for
Christmas Midnight Mass, Easter, and Sundays at
10:30 am --”praying twice” -- expressing
your love of God by helping our San Carlos
community sing its praise! The choir
sings motets, contemporary
hymns,
jazz-style twice a year, chants, and anthems.
If you like the idea of joining a
small group of singers who contemplate
scripture, learn, work toward perfection in spite of
imperfection, laugh, and pray for one
another, the Holy Spirit may be prompting you to join our choir.
Call Karen at 373-2628, x 11 or see a Choir member for more
information. You may also e-mail Karen,
klips@sancarloscathedral.org.
Practices are regularly on
Wednesday from 7 to 8:45 pm in
Cathedral Hall, except for the summer break and
the Wednesdays after Christmas and Easter. Our choir also assists
with special
Triduum liturgies in Holy Week.
The 2008 summer break begins June
11, with no further practices until August 13. Choir will not
sing at Mass between June 15 and July 6, but will resume Sundays
at 10:30 am on July 13 with whichever members are not away on
personal vacations, and will have just a short practice before
Mass. August 13 marks the return to regular Wednesday
practices—again with anyone on personal vacation excused.
Following Labor Day, Choir is back in full swing.

Faith
Formation for Children - our team of catechists needs you!
If
you enjoy children and sharing your Catholic faith, prayerfully
consider giving of your time and talent to build up the kingdom
of God's children. They are waiting to be enriched through
stories, parables, songs and experiences of your own faith
journey. Vibrant stories of faith create faith-filled
communities where children grow and flourish. You will obtain a
sense of personal reward in contributing to our future.
On Sunday mornings throughout the year, children over the age of
four are invited to experience the Sunday readings in a small
group setting during Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00
AM and 10:30 AM masses. Through song and discussion, they reap
the benefit of prayer and gain knowledge of God's love for them.
On Tuesday afternoons at 4:00 PM, children attending our public
schools are invited to join us in studying the Catholic Faith.
Special focus is placed on sacramental preparation, while
children are taught and encouraged to continue growing in their
faith throughout their years.
If you have questions about joining our team of catechists,
please call Cynthia, 831.373.2628, or send e-mail to
cfriesen@sancarloscathedral.org, for more information.

Salt and LIght Ministry
San Carlos’ social
justice ministry, Salt & Light, promotes the values,
principles and practices that lead us to actively live the
social justice teachings of our faith. We believe that by
gaining a greater knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching and an
increased awareness of existing social injustices, we will be
better able to participate in activities that promote a just
society, including advocating for public policy as a member of
COPA. In this way, we follow the Gospel call into a
relationship of solidarity with all of God's people.
