Experience the Joy of Singing -- in the Choir!
If you love to sing, treat yourself to the joy of choir ministry.  Imagine yourself singing beautiful music for Christmas Midnight Mass, Easter, and Sundays at 10:30 am --”praying twice” -- expressing your love of God by helping our San Carlos community sing its praise! The choir sings motets, contemporary hymns, jazz-style twice a year, chants, and anthems.

If you like the idea of joining a small group of singers who contemplate scripture, learn, work toward perfection in spite of imperfection, laugh, and pray for one another, the Holy Spirit may be prompting you to join our choir. Call Karen at 373-2628, x 11 or see a Choir member for more information.  You may also e-mail Karen, klips@sancarloscathedral.org.

Practices are regularly on Wednesday from 7 to 8:45 pm in the Cathedral, except for the summer break and the Wednesdays after Christmas and Easter. Our choir also assists with special Triduum liturgies in Holy Week. The summer break will begin June 3rd and practice will resume on August 19th, 2009.

Faith Formation for Children - our team of catechists needs you!
If you enjoy children and sharing your Catholic faith, prayerfully consider giving of your time and talent to build up the kingdom of God's children. They are waiting to be enriched through stories, parables, songs and experiences of your own faith journey. Vibrant stories of faith create faith-filled communities where children grow and flourish. You will obtain a sense of personal reward in contributing to our future.

On Sunday mornings throughout the year, children over the age of four are invited to experience the Sunday readings in a small group setting during Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM masses. Through song and discussion, they reap the benefit of prayer and gain knowledge of God's love for them.

On Tuesday afternoons at 4:00 PM, children attending our public schools are invited to join us in studying the Catholic Faith. Special focus is placed on sacramental preparation, while children are taught and encouraged to continue growing in their faith throughout their years.

If you have questions about joining our team of catechists, please call Cynthia, 831.373.2628, or send e-mail to cfriesen@sancarloscathedral.org, for more information.

Docent Ministry - Volunteers Needed

The San Carlos Docent Ministry is looking for volunteers to be trained in giving tours of our Cathedral and Heritage Center. More than 200 visitors a month have been coming to see our beautifully restored church since it reopened. Additional volunteers are needed to welcome our visitors. We especially need new docents who can give 2-5 hours a month on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Your tours can be flexible. You don’t have to work the same shifts each month and our docents cover for one another during absences. For more information, please contact Kay Hornor at 831.275.2483 or kayhorn@att.net.
